How we ended the year

Our last show of the year was a special one … full of celebration, amazing guests and a nice surprise. What a wonderful show it was with two thoughtful guests with huge hearts – Alanagh Recreant, the Co-executive director of NGO Uthango Social Investments (which runs Virtual Africa in SL) and DrFran Babcock, Educator, Podcaster & Creator.

Alanagh explained that the purpose of Uthango, a non profit organisation in South Africa, is to make a meaningful difference in communities. SL gives Uthango a chance to access communities and innovative ways to create sustainable change. The social networks in RL can be tapped into and explored futher in SL. Virtual Africa provides a portal to introduce the internet and virtual worlds to South Africans and also to african content to SL and raise funds through the sale of RL african bicycles. DrFran is not only a live music connoisseur in Sl but also a RL phychiatrist, educator, podcaster and creator. She shared with us her insights into aspects of gender choice and how she moved into being immersed into the SL world. You can follow DrFran’s adventures at her website –

Our surprise musician of the evening however was our one and only beautiful Aussie jazz diva. Paisley!
