This weeks Episode is UP!!! www.slcn.tv you gotta see.. and I mean SEE! this weeks episode! it cannot be fully appreciated as a podcast! (as Crap Mariner claims all Chat shows are, big raspberry to you buddy!)..as usual we always add some visual component to our show that makes you take your iPod out of your pocket and watch what’s on the screen! and this weeks show achieves that effect wonderfully! We discuss aliens with Drew Frobozz from NASA, Teaching English (as in Literature) with Musician Harper Messmer who got us all swooning and swaying with his incredibly beautiful song, and “The Particle Guy” ArminasX Saiman pranks me( with a really lovely prank actually) at the end of the show

Empty Worlds

 

Ok so this is a little off topic but hey its my blog and I’ll blog if I want too!
So Ive installed the latest viewer..as have loads of people… the one without the Most popular places, which is now replaced with the Showcase, and of course Im miffed that Tonight Live isn’t on the showcase yet!!! however, will the showcase really replace most Popular places…I go to the old viewer tonight…just to see if theres any change in numbers on the popular places ummmm well its 4am slt and nope I don’t see any difference, so the new viewer is optional and maybe there are a lotta nervous people out there not downloading the new viewer till the bugs have been exterminated? and they allready hang out at the most popular places anyway, they have been there a while..places like.. freebie island, Hippy island, sweethearts etc….so the effect hasn’t kicked in yet, I wonder how many people have actually downloaded the new “optional” viewer? which of course Linden Labs have suggested they have no plans to make manditory…..yet…at least for about the next few weeks if history is anything to go on.

I then log into the new viewer to check out the new Showcase…and do a little tour..ok.. so what are these great new hot spots? the places being showcased on the new search are they any good? why were they chosen? And maybe with this new viewer they have turned into the new places to hang out and be seen…? well so far….nooooo all empty..oh! there was one person at the sim I took a pic of, and the other 4 sims I went to in the Hot Spots section were obviously not deemed “hot” by the masses over at Hippy island..perhaps if they had a money tree or 2 or 3 and some camping chairs??….at 4am Sweethearts had over 70 people in it, all hanging out listening to piped jazz…in Lagg that ages your avi 30 years…hmmm no lagg at the Showcase hot spots in the new search, hey! haven’t these people at Hippy’s and Sweathearts got the new Viewer!!! didn’t they know they were not at the hot spot?!!! why are they still at Sweethearts when clearly the Hot spot (as per Linden Labs social director)..was elsewhere!!!! gees …..excuse me but I think they need to send down some social police to Sweethearts (who btw I bear no ill will, btw they play my sorta music!!! even if it aint live and they don’t pay royalties for it..) and tell them they are soooo last week! the “Hot Spots” have been decreed and chosen! and these clueless Avis at Sweethearts and Hippies are clearly out of the loop!!!!

So far without naming names I am bewildered by the choice of showcased places and hotspots..they are a real mixture of the very ordinary and the very-well-done but…empty..they are all PG of course, and politicaly correct..(correct me if Im wrong) and quite pleasant if you are just comming into SL, I think they may be a nice “Leave it to Beaver” look at SL, ( I know I’m an Aussie.. but that phrase has been around long enough for me to get-it even if we never got the show out here!!)

So what Im curious about is this…when, in a few weeks, the new viewer is manatory.. more or less.. (unless you save your old one…and the average person won’t)…what will happen to the old “hot but not – Linden-sanctioned-places” and how will the average Noob find the lewd old hot spots and camping chair-freebie-sims they are packing out now? Will they come in…look at the “Leave it too Beaver” Sims figure there’s no one home and leave? Will they all be hanging around asking everyone whats up? and where’s the fun? “Ok so this is nice and educational and all but…where do I get money and hang out with other noobs?..

About 4 days ago when researching a story on the Info hubs, which I have an interest in, I went as my alt to a few, to see what was going on at them. Some had groups of not-so-new and new Avis hanging around, some were just plain empty…and some had a tower of lost zombie Avis who had obviously been TP’d there as their sim was not available and didn’t know what the hell was going on!!! and one hub had a lovely little nude hobbit type creature with an enourmous Gourd of a penis on..frightening the old ladies and the unaware..good one mate! So you arrive, (and btw noobs still are wearing those purple shirts and awful hair where are the new sexed up noobs? eh?…what is it with that?) get close up with a shrunken man with a huge member, and welcome to SL….lovely! that will surely encourage people to stay…

I wait with eager anticipation…Like any buisness person in SL, I’d love a crack at the showcase just to see if it increases traffic to my studio… but I can’t say my studio its the best spot for a rank noobie to hang out..yes you can watch the telly, and if you happen to get there on show day whooo hoo
its an amazing experience for a noob but really, its not going to be enough to keep a noob coming back to SL….I still want to know..who chooses these places? and why are they empty still!!!and…has anyone noticed an upswing in traffic yet? or better still…..any sales???? and what do the noobs think? after all its them that most of the most popular places was aimed at?

Tonight Live on The BOSL BLVD

 

Yes we filmed Tonight Live for the first time on Location! it was very tricky coping with a large crowd and the Lagg and it took the longest time to complete filming, what with our retakes and my kids killing each other in the background…but it was a spectacular shoot. Congratulations to Frolic Mills who was a very charming host, for his Best Shopping District of Second Life Award and thanks to the guests on the show for that night the wonderfull Raven Pennyfeather who gave us some insight on her huge empire of shops, Winston Ackland gave us some insight to his romance and eventual nuptials this month! and entertained us with a great and popular song of his “All The Little Fishys..” still don’t know what it means…read what you will into it and it was really wonderfull to talk with Briggite Kungler the talented and incredible Machinima creator, we watched some of her innovative and dazzeling film Chameleon, and she told us about its creation and the music for it, what an incredibly talented son she has! Despite all the delays the interviews were really fascinating for me and I hope just as fascinating for you, the show is now up on www.slcn.tv! next week this Sunday at 6pm slt back at the Tonight Live Studio at Northpoint! Mayhem after the slcn.tv live telecast Celebrity Race!

I don’t think I’ve ever had such childish fun as I had on the RFL celebrity race put together by the people from SLASCAR who are broadcast on slcn.tv I have no idea who “Won” but I did suggest the loser should run around the track nude afterwards and the winner should too! the race was hilarious with loads of crashes and cars flying through the air, and all of us were on voice, its weird being on voice in a car race cause you only hear people as they go past you or you go past them, there were lots of screams and laughter and threats of annihilation from some members of the racers..ahem…not me of course….Mwahhh ahhah

after the race things really went down hill…..everyone started rezzing their own cars, and we were racing around the track in luxury cars, and all sorts of vehicles then someone rezzed a plane then another then they started bombing, Crap rezzed a very fast 19th century buggy , You can see here my Tonight Live Limo and overnight Van being bombed by one of the planes, then the weapons really started coming out, and someone started throwing missiles bombs and hamburgers…I think we got all our frustration out of being such appalling racers and then it just petered out into a gestures feast….Im sure there are some other great pics on Flicker I wish it had been filmed, you can check out the race when it comes online on www.slcn.tv it should be an absolute scream…Eshi wearing one of her gowns in a race car and me and my handbag and high-heels and a glass of Champagne drinking and driving…we broke all the rules.!!!
It really is fun to be child like sometimes and just go a bit crazy

Paisley Beebe and Starr Sonic Feature in ABC News

A month ago I got a call from Starr Sonic Exec Producer of SLCN.TV, that the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Network) our National Broadcaster here in Australia, were putting together a TV News item about virtual worlds for broadcast on their Asia Pacific Network. The ABC producer really became fascinated with the fact that slcn.tv and my production company Perfect World Productions were producing TV shows in a virtual World! So firstly they interviewed Starr in Melbourne, and then sent a crew over to my real life house in Sydney to film me, I’m was pleased at the results of the piece over all, they cut out all the bits where I went into vast detail about my virtual sex life…..joke….

Seriously ….All in All it was a nice positive piece on virtual world machinima, a link to the video of the ABC broadcast that went to air a few weeks ago is in the top right hand column of this blog. Thanks Starr for the Dub…
