Are you one of the people in Second Life that just doesn’t get the whole prim baby talking pregnancy thing? well yes.. I’m one of those as well. Don’t get me wrong I love my own babies…well they are not babies anymore, but maybe not wanting any MORE! precludes me from seeing the whole picture. I also don’t get the whole Mum and Dad family thing here in S.L either…but then I never played the Sims. To explain to us why prim babies and prim pregnancy’s are so popular in SL, and how it all works, Robynnurse Rowlands from Rock a Bye Birthing Centre is joining us this Sunday….with a baby on stage Yikes! I have the cat… now the kid, never work with animals and kids…?

We are also very priviliged to have Artist Machinima creator and Musician ColeMarie Soleil with us this Sunday. She’s going to sing and perform, and talk to us about what she does in SL, (What doesn’t she do, will be more like it!) this woman is a creative genius! she can practically turn her hand to anything, building, particles, clothes, films, music…I think I’ll be asking her what she can’t do but would like to If you would like to see and hear some of her work before you come see her, go to her YouTube channel Rockerfairey where there are some 180 video uploads from her!

There’s a group that meets in Second Life once a month to discuss life, both real life and Second type Life,  philosophy and all sorts of interesting subjects, some of which probably have no clear answers or conclusions. This group meets at The Roadside Philosophers Think Tank each month to discuss a particular subject matter set for that meeting. The Roadside Philosophers are a 1st person group (meaning they examine THEIR thoughts not others, quotes or papers).

The membership of this group is quite diverse, boasting an international membership of some 250 at last check 85% active Slers. Pamala Clift is the facilitator of this group, she is “The Roadside Philosopher”, she is also a Professor at Rockcliff University, an online university based in Second Life, and a writer. Pamala was a speaker at last years SLCC speaking on the nature of relationships in Second Life.  Philosophy discussions in Second Life seems a perfectly natural occurrence, especially as we seem to be openly questioning our virtual lives constantly in blogs and other discussions and how they differ or relate to our real lives? There always seems to be a philosophical discussion happening somewhere in Second Life, around culture, around morality, around relationships, and around governance. I wonder what conclusions this group has formed if any, around some of those issues. We will find out this Sunday.

This week we also have our first Resident Spotlight! and this weeks Spotlight falls on Wilson Voight one of our long term sponsors, who runs a wonderfull Spanish Language and Cultural School in Second Life. They have a unique immersive learning environment on Instituto Espanol Wilson will be explaining the nature of the courses to us and how it all works.
