Eric Whitacre Special
We filmed our last show for 2010 on the 5th Dec as a Special, with an incredible interview with Eric Whitacre from the Virtual Choir! What a way to end the year! Viewer numbers are still coming in for this show, as the show climbs up the Google rankings, and Eric’s star keeps rising we believe that this particular show, will definitely have very very long legs! This is one of those interviews that will come to be viewed over and over as more people find out about the Virtual Choir and will want to know who Eric Whitacre is. I have a personal prediction that Eric Whitacre is on the verge of enormous fame. The guy has it all! he is drop dead movie star gorgeous..(that’s gotta help), he is as charming and intelligent and as talented as he is funny really really funny, (in a goofy way) who knew! Being an incredibly hard worker with a heart as big as his love of community, music and choir Eric is also nominated for a Grammy this year, he has a new No1 Album just out Light and Gold, and is about to start editing another Virtual Choir, this time with a hoped-for 900 participants one of which will be ME! How about you!!! there is still time to get a video in, and anyone can do it! There is also huge interest in Choirs at the moment, from “Flash Mob” style Choirs to reality TV Choir competitions and movies and TV shows about choirs, Eric is at the forefront of this new resurgence, and I cannot wait to see where he will go! I’m indebted to Bliss Windlow for finally securing this interview for Perfect World Productions and thrilled that it all went so well due to Treet.tv and Skype and our team, and finally to the irrepressible Eric Whitacre! who was an incredibly easy guest and such a great sport! Yes it was a long interview (45 mins), but it had everything, Music, Depeche Mode…vomiting Choristers, Mac Geekery…and more, including viewer and audience questions! And most importantly a side of Eric not widely seen in his past interviews, namely his self depreciating humor! (after meeting him and him blowing kisses and raspberries at me in SL “oh save my soul”!) I knew he could take the dipsy Paisley humour, and he ran with it! After knowing NOTHING about Choir or Eric before seeing the Virtual Choir on YouTube and following my research into his career, I’m now a huge Eric Whitacre fan and I’m sure you (if you are not already) will be also! The wonderfull thing about this interview was that so many non-Second Life users have watched it, and almost none of them have taken any issue with the fact that it was filmed in that weird place Second Life?? they just enjoyed and loved the interview! And have told me they want to watch more of what we do in the future. Read More about the interview here.

Galaxy Isle, SafeAssist, Boudoir Fashion – for Delinda
This next entry dedicated to my close friend and colleague Delinda Dyrssen, was again one of our most popular shows, but for us here at Perfect World Productions and for me personally the hardest show of any kind I’ve EVER had to do, including all my singing performances and radio, over some 20 years, because our dear friend and a beautiful human being Delinda Dyrssen died only days before the show. Keeping the entire team upbeat and cheerful for our very important guests and our audience, was no small effort, when personally all I wanted to do was crawl back into bed and just cry… Delinda would have been at this show, she planned to be there, as she almost allways was. And she would have kicked my pixel butt if I had cancelled so I honestly did it for our very forgiving guests and for her. On this show was a stunningly beautiful tribute from Rosedrop Rust it was the best I’ve ever heard Rusty sing, I defy you to watch it and not shed a tear, even if you didn’t know Delinda, I know it was extremely tough for Rusty who was also a great friend of Delinda’s and knew her as long as I had at some 3 and half years, I met Delinda only a few months after her Rez Day. We also heard a very special story from Emile Sands, Owner of Galaxy Isle; about bring a little bit of respite to hospital patients through Second Life and volunteers, I knew Delinda would have been so fully supportive of Galaxy Isle and their efforts. Pauv Evanier, President & CEO of SafeAssist was a facinating Resident Spotlight talking about Security and Assistance in Second Life, ; and Vitabela Dubrovna, the very talented RL Fashion Designer of her couture line Boudoir brought in some incredible Etherial Gowns into the show, and talked about her life as a real life and Second Life Couture Designer. We also featured the video of the Virtual Choir at the end of the show as we announced the interview with Eric Whitacre, this was especially poignant as Delinda was the one who brought the story to us, and wanted us to to attempt to have Eric on Tonight Live. Artistic Expression, Keiko Returns, and Emerald Controversy
This Episode is without doubt our highest rated episode, and so far is confirmed as the most watched episode ever on any Treet.tv Show. This is in no small part due to all 3 guests being especially topical at the time, and all of them being absolutely fascinating. We had booked the Emerald Developers on the show way before the story broke about hacking and other problems that resulted in the Emerald Viewer being banned permanently in Second Life, this timely booking resulted in us having the first in-depth interview with Jessica Lyon and Arabella Steadham the leaders for the Emerald Viewer on the biggest scandal and story within Second Life of 2010 without a doubt. The popularity of this show was particularly because of the numbers of people effected by its banning. Even way after the Emerald viewer was banned people were still coming back to this interview to find out “what the hell happened!” The live viewership of this Episode live to air, was the largest viewed live video of any live video streamed to the web from inside of Second Life. normally in the hundreds range it was many thousands. Adding to the excitement was that the filming location had to be shot in a secret after we were driven out of our Studio at Northpoint with constant Sim crashes due in part to the overloaded sim, and greifers. This episode featured, Multimedia Director and artist Rose Borchovski, (update Rose is now part of a film with the very controversial and well known film maker Peter Greenaway), and the super-talented Keiko Takamura shares her latest music video Greyscale, plus Jessica Lyon and Arabella Steadham from the Emerald third-party viewer development team talk about recent controversy.Read more about it here:

Birth, Creativity and the Meaning of Life
Prim Babies! yep.. considered one of the weirdest things in Second Life but…did you know there are some real benefits and some extraordinary stories about Prim Pregnancy and Births in S.L . RobinNurse Rowlands from the Rock A Bye Babies Birthing Center talks about it in a straight and upfront manner, dispelling myths and creating a few!; creative multi-talented performer ColeMarie Soleil drew a huge crowd. Not normally interviewed, ColeMarie Soleil is one of Second Life’s most talented and unique artists she talked in depth, (on the floor of the audience side…amongst a garden of flowers that I created especially for her..) about her creations and inspirations for her music and her machinima and also her fashion; This Episode also featured Rockcliff University’s Pamala Clift and the Roadside Philosophers who are a fascinating group who meet in Second Life to discuss a different topic each week…quite often under the water! ; and a Resident Spotlight with Tonight Live Sponsor, Wilson Voight of Instituto Espanol Segunda Vida who tells us how teaching Spanish in Second Life is an excellent way to learn about the culture and to learn immersively and effectively. Talent, Tabasco and Tribes
This episode was quite a surprising hit 3rd in popularity behind the Emerald Episode and the Eric Whitacre one… Join in and see what is going on at the University of Western Australia with Jayjay Zifanwe, the UWA holds many Art competitions and Exhibits in Second Life and is a real life University, we then hear an gorgeous original song performed by EricSteffensen Mistwalker. Plus fascinating Alpha Auer explains her Alpha Tribe and her exploration of self identity and art, her work in Second Life is truly awesome in its detail and creativity. This show got an extraordinary amount of hits, but not till after the live show! and mostly from Italy which is Alpha Auer’s country of origin. Read More Here

The Old, The Young, and The Linden
On this episode we welcomed guests Bathsheba Darkfold who researched elderly internet users, yes with some good luck and good health we will all be older internet users one day. And a rarely interviewed and famously private Skye Galaxy performs a powerful song with piano, and gives us some insight into why he decided to reveal his real life identity as Apollo’s Child. Skye Galaxy was clearly the most popular Musician for 2010, and drew a huge audience! We then interviewed Jack Linden for a second time (update: Jack just announced his departure after 5 years with Linden Lab) who answers lots and lots! of questions about the new (at the time) Linden Homes offering. Jack was an engaging guest who appeared a few times over the years on Tonight Live, very easy to get along with and he answered lots of questions about the New (at the time) Linden Homes concisely and with great consideration. He was often on Tonight Live at some god awful time…as he is based in London…I wish him well on his new journey and can’t wait to see where he goes next. He will be simply known as “Jack” in Second Life from now on.

Live Music is Kickin, A Look at Reaction Grid
This show was very popular at the time it was released anyway, but due to Delinda Dyrssen’s passing last month, people have been going back to this episode and watching it, particularly as it is the only interview on voice that Delinda ever did. She was interviewed on one or two blogs about Live n Kickin our music show that we did together, but this interview shows how absolutely delightful Delinda was in person. For this show, I asked Delinda to come on and talk about “Live n Kickin” the show she and I were producing, I wanted to promote it, and I wanted to interview Delinda! she was incredibly reluctant to come on even until the last hour before the show! She would flip from being exited to just horrified..She kept finding excuse after excuse to get out of coming on! 1. she hated her voice (she only used text on SL) and 2. she just didn’t feel she would do it justice…wrong…but I didn’t want to interview myself as producer! And I felt if she would just try it…she might actually get to feel more confident as the public face of Live n Kickin, really she just got cold feet. (I found out later that for her this was a huge step, as she had after her parents death not spoken out-loud except for one word answers for a year!) I think she was both appalled and proud of appearing on the show…I was very proud of her and laughed out loud at her funny exit…I was planning next year, 2011 going to have Delinda on the show again to talk about her round world trip and her mission to support the Kidney Exchange Program she was so passionate about, but I knew it was huge risk…because of her tendency to want to bolt! I did have a sneaking suspicion that she would actually do it this time she told me she wanted to do it…Delinda had been doing voice posts on her blog, and would call me to listen to them and ask me what I thought….honestly thought….I told her they were great! I meant it! I think she was hoping to become more of a spokesperson for the Paired Kidney Program and this was a sort of lead up to that, I think she also wanted to gain some confidence for her 2nd appearance again on my show. Sadly it will never be…but I’ll always have this delightful interview. (Which I’m still too raw with grief to watch again …I know I will cry, but when ‘Im ready I will) The only thing missing from this interview is her damn Bannana Phone ring going off! However her sign off on this interview is pure Delinda! God Speed my darling I miss you more than you can ever know
Also on this very special show, we also hear and meet fabulous Mexican musician Arimo Teixeira, his song will blow you away! and so will his story ,his interview is followed by a look at Reaction Grid an Open Sim, with G2 Proto and RobinG2 Proto who are known as Kyle Gomboy and Robin Gomboy in real life. As Open Sim grids really took off this year this interview is very interesting to look back on…Reaction Grid is doing great business as an alternative open source Virtual World to Second Life.
