Tonight Live Is UP! Great Music, & What Can L.Lab Learn From InWorldz? Greeters Anyone?

What a shame we don’t film the rehearsals…..honestly our rehearsal was like an episode of “Saturday Night Live”, everyone got on soooo well! Not surprising really, Bliss Windlow and Jim Tarber of course shared some stories from the “Old Country”.. being Canadian…and of course felt an affinity right from the start! ..Myself and Danish Lady….um Lady Sakai…talked Royal families…as “Our Mary” has turned the 1000 year old Viking stock of the Danish Royals into Aussies…Yay! ….And Reggie…an American, fitted in really well with the folks from InWorldz and their hippy like love of all Avatar kind, with his folky roots!

All jokes aside…well not all jokes..we left some in…ReggieSunset Rookwood is amazing…such a wonderful Musician, and I have to credit our Music Producer Tangle Giano for bringing him onto the show, I had just been to Reggie’s Gig the day Tangle told me he was booked for the show! Reggie moved us all with his absolutely stunning songwriting/singing and playing of his original Tune “Allways Home For You”. Reggie quit music for a long time, and in this interview he explains why, and why he is now getting back into music again, thankfully for us and all his new fans.

I’ve been spending some time in InWorldz lately renting some land there, and really enjoying discovering this Virtual World. It was really nice to meet Lady Sakai and Jim Tarber, who had been helping me some during my settling in via IM in InWorldz. In talking with them both on the show, its really evident that despite the comparisions with SL that the InWorldz folks really wish Second Life all success, but have InWorldz have in a way, harkened back to the “good all days” of S.L, when noobs were actually welcomed and helped to find their way when they first Rez, and when the community was a lot smaller and a lot more freindly. I think the “boys” at the Lab could take a close look at InWorldz, particularly at InWorldz entry point and the communication that the owners have with their customers. Jim and Lady talk about what its like to start again…and what they miss from Second Life and what they would never go back for…

Enjoy!

Sunday 1st May 6pm slt

This week:

MUSIC

ReggieSunset Rookswood who after college played music a bit around his home town, playing in some restaurants and pubs, realized there wasn’t a lot of money playing music went out and got a real job. Reggie fell away from music for a very long time. But In the last 5 years or so, had a resurgence of writing and playing. He plays now in Second Life, and on this weeks show! He has a lovely mellow folksy sound if you love Jim Croce, James Taylor, John Denver, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Sam Cook you’re going to LOVE ReggieSunset Rookswood!

INWORLDZ

This weeks show we interview some residents from InWorldz. Jim Tarber and Lady Skia both now call InWorldz their home. InWorldz is one of the most successfull Open Sim Virtual Worlds. And as you can see from the picture above, the content in InWorldz is really catching up to Second Life. Both Jim and Lady were Second Life residents, and we find out what they are doing in InWorldz what they love about it, and how the community in InWorldz is growing, and welcoming more and more new residents. InWorldz has over 35,000.00 sign ups now. What makes this Open Sim so popular and how is it progressing since our last interview?

“Quest Atlantis” Gaming For Education

Sasha Barab is a Professor from Indiana University who is part of a 3D Game development team that has designed a quest and gaming immersive environment to teach kids about themselves and their world, called Quest Atlantis. New Media Technology seeks to take kids away from the old style text book orientated learning to something that they can relate to, that helps them make their own discoveries and stories rather than be spoon fed facts and figures that don’t allow them to think for themselves. Quest Atlantis has been designed to  empower its students who can often feel talked down to, and helpless in their learning rather than respected and encouraged by it. Some schools however are still very reluctant to embrace new technology and particularly New Media Technology. I’ll be asking Sasha about this and what the outcomes have been with this new approach in this interview this Sunday.
