Linden Lab’s Future? with Pathfinder Lester, Pete Mroz Project, Media in S.L Wiz Nordberg Treet.tv CEO

Sunday 23rd January 2011 6pm slt

This is our first show back for 2011, we wanted a fitting way to start the new year. New directions? new projects? new ideas? In Second Life many people are starting to feel optimistic, after a few years where it really looked like it was all going to hell in a prim basket!

Wiz Nordberg CEO Treet.tv

Media in SL is changing, from what was once, real life journalists in-bedding themselves in second Life and reporting on it, to what it is primarily now, Second Life residents, most with no background in media at all, taking control of it, and publishing their own news from within. Far from shrinking in Second Life, Media, in all forms, Machinima, Machinima TV, Blogs, Prim based and online Magazines, Radio, Podcasting is more prolific than it ever has been, but mainly from Second Life residents, not from real world media stallwarts who from about late 2008 started to pull out of Second Life. Wiz Nordberg is the CEO of Treet.tv our Broadcaster, and partner. He and Treet.tv started Television Media in Second Life, we ask him for his observations, what he sees as being necessary to grow this industry in Second Life and where to now?

Linden Lab Promoting Music In Second Life

Its great to see L.L finally promoting Live Music on the website…What do you think of this vid below? (watch it first before reading the rest of this) read the writing over the top of it, strangely it says that SL has music you will find no where else…well no, thats not true, just about all the artists in SL have a MySpace account or somewhere where their music is listed outside of S.L I wonder why they said that?…I’m glad to see some real musicians (The Follow) on the tape but I suspect most of the scenes in this film are set up, and models…would have been a buzz to have seen more REAL musicians.

I think also what I would have loved to have seen, is somewhere near this video, which is on the front page of Second Life, is a “how to” button..how to see and hear Live music and Club Music in SL and what it is. Because, this video could still be misconstrued as people “role playing” musicians or lip syncing…

There is a Graphic there, on the front page, which takes you to the Music Venue Destination guide which looks awesome but of course, but it is only the venue listing, not an events page to see actual music or go to a club that has music on. You then have to find the event tab on that Destination Guide page, IF you know that events mean, what we know them as, gatherings of people..

If any Lindens are reading this. Can you possibly get someone to write something up about watching Live Music in SL, and put a link next to this video, Torley Linden, would be best to ask. Just a tab near the video to say. “How To Experience Music In S.L” something like that? Even something on the You Tube page would help somewhat if they end up there.
