Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects more people that you would realise. Its one of the hidden tragedies and the result of trauma of all varieties. You think someone is coping, but they can’t sleep, they have nightmares reliving the nightmare over and over again, they may forget things, and not be able to function in normal situations. The support for government agencies like Firefighters and Army veterans and Police is till very very small for those suffering with PTSD. And yet there is therapy, therapy that may help suffers to go on and lead functional and full lives. Axle Messerchmitt helped set up “Fearless Nation” here in Second Life. Fearless Nation in Second Life is a respite resort for people affected by PTSD, Fearless Nation also can help them get support and healing and education into their disorder. There are things that annoy me about the new viewer Beta 2 but wow this is not one of them.

Here I am in my home office in SL with Live n Kickin playing perfectly…..not jerky not broken up, but perfectly on my right monitor with Google Reader on the left. I have over 1000 blog posts I have to scroll thru to catch up on my reading, mostly cause Ive been working with the new viewer trying to work out how our audience members are going to find us, and hear us! but this was really fun..why?

Cause I can’t afford 2 monitors at home and squishing up windows has never been attractive. So here I am on my 22 inch screen at home with 2 sleek looking Mac monitors in my virtual home able to do exactly the same things as I could do if I had the monitors in my RL home!

I may never leave my Virtual home my office in SL all of a sudden got relevent! totally cool

what I don’t like about the viewer….no 1 the thing that will effect my TV shows is that people cannot find the music and or video button..there aint one!

We have video and music activated at different times in our studio according to what we are showing…and activating all means they will get both streams, and if not savy will have no understanding of turning one off. Picture buttons pleeeese L.L we still need them. We are way off with the Flash on a prim for  video presentations as part of our TV show yet…I know that next Sunday if people are on the new viewer poor old SuperDave will be innundated with how do I hear the show questions, and the answer will be….go back to the old viewer as its too DAMN hard to explain it! Drop down menu with ghosted streams for the entire sim? unless you select just for this parcel, if you know what the hell that means…nope…how do you pick the right one? nightmare.

I’m with Crap and Grace on the “where is the events tab” ? issue also, its hidden and can only be activated by those that know what they are looking for, …sure put Grace McDunnuh in search you willl find her on events…but if you want to just see whats on? where? why didn’t that make the right hand menu…Events so much a part of our lives. sigh…just hopes they change that. filtering events is hard, pages and pages of descriptions, not just names and places…expand would work better…but what do I know Im just a stupid Musician TV host, but just fix it

What are virtual Goods? and why are Virtual Goods the fastest growing consumer items? Max Burns/Gatsby Crumb from Pixels and Policy blog will be taking us through these questions. Where did they come from? and where are they going, and who is making the most of this phenomenon. Now most people know by now, Im a non Gamer and I can’t stand Facebook Games, or Mafia Wars ect..I’ve never tried them. Why? cause I don’t like real life games either! I wan’t to cheat and get to the end of them. And Im a really sore loser. But clearly IM in the minority! All the tiny micro payments that people spend to send me flowers, or frogs or hearts on Face book…(wasted on me clearly) add up to billions of dollars for the creators and owners of these games. I’m very interested in the phycology behind these games and the gift giving, even if I don’t have any interest in sending any.

Kyle Beltran doesn’t just play the piana..he is all things to all audience members. Kyle Beltran is a very versatile musician. He can play Stride one tune then blues, then swing then modern jazz. I’m all for saving our trees…in fact I’m often standing in front of trees and bushes around my house trying to save them from being chopped to bits by my chainsaw weilding husband! who’s idea of “pruning” is to leave a tiny stump behind…proclaiming that the leaves were getting in the Gutters! and never mind it will Grow! Well thats its that sort of attitude that has caused our environment a great deal of pain in the last few hundred years. The Treeline Project started here in Australia on the Sunshine coast, educates and informs and celebrates the beauty of our native trees. They have an extensive exhibit in Second Life and this week I talk to Juanita Deharo about what they are doing in Second Life and in Real Life.

Not very long ago Gandhi Walked the Salt March in Second Life, he was also Imprisoned in Second Life, Why? hasn’t he suffered enough? was he here to remind us what the great man taught the world many many years ago and yet we still don’t understand his teachings. Joseph DeLappe transformed himself into Mahatma Gandhi to recreate these events in Second Life. Joseph DeLappe has since retired the avatar representing Gandhi but has re-emerged as Joseph Grommet. Joseph Grommet in real life is a performance artist and an activist. He uses gaming and the internet for his peace activism in the most unusual ways not just recreation. ‘MMIF 2010′ is the second edition of an annual film festival in 3D cyberspace with a screening in physical space (‘RL’). A seven hour movie marathon with a two hour afterparty. MMIF 2010 can also be followed on the web via live stream broadcasts.

The MMIF is a celebration of ‘Machinima’: a new cinematic art form, created with virtual worlds and video games. On 3D Internet platforms like Second Life®, any kind of movie sets can be build for very low costs. The MMIF aims to bring machinima to a wider audience, online – and offline. Machinima artists from all over the world are present in real time at the virtual MMIF Theatre. They present over 50 short films and have talks with other machinimatographers and an international audience.

Paisley Beebe’s Machinima of Live n Kickin with Dexter Ihnen will be showing just after 12pm on Saturday. Then Paisley and Poid Mahavolich will be co-hosting from 2-3pm Saturday

Audience in Amsterdam can follow the MMIF event projected live on a big screen at the PLANETART Medialab Artspace. They can bring their own laptop computers to interact with the show on the big screen. Free wireless Internet and electricity is provided.
