The Band “The Follow”

The Follow

They have just released their 7th!!! yes Their 7th Album…and also about to embark on their 3rd “World” tour shortly. “Quest Atlantis” Gaming For Education

Sasha Barab is a Professor from Indiana University who is part of a 3D Game development team that has designed a quest and gaming immersive environment to teach kids about themselves and their world, called Quest Atlantis. New Media Technology seeks to take kids away from the old style text book orientated learning to something that they can relate to, that helps them make their own discoveries and stories rather than be spoon fed facts and figures that don’t allow them to think for themselves. Quest Atlantis has been designed to  empower its students who can often feel talked down to, and helpless in their learning rather than respected and encouraged by it. Some schools however are still very reluctant to embrace new technology and particularly New Media Technology. I’ll be asking Sasha about this and what the outcomes have been with this new approach in this interview this Sunday.

Here is a shorter clip of it that was made for You Tube if you just want a taste

Congratulations Mr Eric Whitacre you are an inspiration, and I’m thrilled to have met you virtually and interviewed you for Tonight Live.

This Is Why!

Watch the interview with Virtual Choir Conductor Eric Whitacre on TED,

It includes a short 2 min preview sample of the upcoming 2000 strong Virtual Choir that I and a few others were involved in this year!

When you watch this TED video you can understand why it was so exiting to interview Eric Whitacre on Tonight Live, which I did last Dec.  I dare you not to like this guy and what he is doing. The video of  Eric’s composition “Sleep” with over 2,000 participants from all over the globe, will be released on YouTube any day now, and I’m so exited to have been a part of the choir, and can’t wait to hear and see it :)

If you missed it, after you watch this TED talk, where he gets a standing ovation…watch the virtual interview below, I did last December 5th with Eric Whitacre as his virtual self in Second Life talking about the Virtual Choir. He was such a lovely guest. Easily one of the most famous people I’ve ever interviewed and easilly one of the  most humble and nicest. No diva or hystronics about this guy. Refreshingly down to earth, enthusisastic and funny did I mention funny, he charmed all of the Perfect World Team, girls AND guys!

The Interview Below was recorded Dec 5th 2010. And has easily been the most watched video of Tonight Live’s history. It has had a steady rate of hits since its upload, as more and more people want to know about Eric Whitacre and what he is doing. Choirs are taking off all over the world as people are inspired by Eric, and others to see choirs as something that creates community, and connection with others that also celebrate the the beauty of the human voice in harmony. Please pass this on to your friends even non singers and hip Rock fans will smile at this.

The Video below is my first attempt to ever sing this sort of music, so I know Im NOT a classical singer…but like so many others I wanted badly to try. It was a huge challenge for me and a practiced over a month to do it. I know it sounds weird without the rest of the choir. I sung this for my dear friend Delinda Dyrssen, so you can see at some parts I’m a little sad, but the words of the song held a deep meaning for me, as I’m sure they did for so many people who sang. You can find more examples of the singers on YouTube just search for Sleep Virtual Choir. All ages from 9 years old to well into the golden years and from all walks of live and cultures entered a video.

VIRTUAL DANCE

Dramatiques Performance Troupe is a new group founded by dance enthusiasts who say they have come together to take performance to another level in Second Life! They are just finishing up their in-world tour of Narnia, and after a short break will start their next production of Alice In Wonderland. Their productions have been called nothing short of incredible.

MUSIC: POL ARIDA

POL Arida is an accomplished singer songwriter working from Edinburgh, UK. His `Hammer` Guitar style is widely regarded as unique, where the guitar is hit hundreds of times per minute to produce a multi-instrument sound. Pol took to the internet and Second Life to play his music when venues in his home town of Edinburgh got scarce. His music is both part dark, poetic and just plain angry!
