This weeks guests included Sander Vos/Karkassus  a real life film editor of RU There fame who is also the son of the Artist Peter Vos who’s work is featured above. Sander talks about his his father’s inspirations his dedication to his work, and what he hopes to be able to achieve to keep his fathers legacy alive.

This week Paisley interviewed, Colin Nilsson VP of Game Development at Second Life Game Company  Madpea Productions . Madpea create immersive games and hunts and educational interactive installations in Second Life. And they are amazing truly awesome!

Peter Vos Artist Museum in Second Life


When Dutch artist Peter Vos lay dying of pancreatic cancer last year, his son Sander Vos channeled his grief into building a memorial to his father in Second Life.  He kept building after his father died, Sander presents his fathers work in a stunning Second Life virtual Gallery (featured in the Destination Guide)  that includes Peter Vos’s paintings his ink drawings and representations of his work space. Peter Vos who passed away last year, is considered one of Hollands leading Artists. Vos excelled at drawing animals, particularly birds, which he drew in many different ways, ranging from skilfully executed birds that are true to nature, to birds that appear to be metamorphosing into humans, and vice versa.

This week we interview Peter Vos’s Son Karkassus Jigsaw in Second Life who is Sanders Vos, in real life a film editor of RU There fame. Many of Sander’s films have been nominated for prestigious awards including:

-Both Paradise Now and Zus & Zo were nominated for Acadamy Award Best Foreign Language Pic
-Moonlight was awarded best European Film in Hollywood Film Festival
-R U There made it to the official selection of Last Year’s Cannes Festival
-Paradise Now won a.o. a Golden Globe, was nominated for Golden Bear and won the Blue Angel in Berlin, and won a golden calfe for editing in the Netherlands.
-Winky’s Horse won a.o. Adults Jury Award in Chicago International Children’s Film Festival

Our Musical Guest this week is CraigGore Redfield who appears not long after his Second Album Release entitled True. Craig Gor has been described as playing with the soul of a poet and the sound of a troubadour. CraigGore Redfield is a career artist, and he’s just come to SL to sing his heart out.  He was born and raised in the southern US songwriter’s tradition and he cut his music teeth in Nashvile, Tennessee as a professional songwriter.
He’s just released  a new cd titled TRUE that iTunes named “new and noteworthy” and he brings his honest, hearfelt tales of love and work and life  to SL in a rare fashion:  Craig ONLY plays and sings live, no loopers or recorded trax at all.

We talked about a wonderful new Breedable that has to be seen to be believed, audience members and viewers couldn’t wait to get there hand on it! and were begging to be given one after the show…Oprah style…sorry folks…MenuBar Memorial needs the dosh! SonyaJevette Charisma!

We met SonyaJevette Charisma, a stunning vocalist who wowed everyone with her fantastic voice and musicianship, watch as she and paisley wax lyrical about retirement homes…um…I mean wild nights out on the Town! and how Sonya went to Vegas! and who knows what went on there…ect…Thanks to Crap Mariner for the Pic above…I notice Crap always makes sure to get Misty in shot…and looking better than I do!! :)

GreenZone vs RedZone Privacy in SL none?

Finally we talked to GreenZone Representative Azure Twine about the very worrying security Privacy hole in all the Second Life Viewers that is causing peoples I.P addresses and Alts to be revealed and kept on a Data Base NOT belonging to Linden Lab. There have been threats to publish the data base and take the device that collects YOUR info underground. Something needs to be done about this privacy violation before you get your avatar scanned. 22 thousand devices on the grid apparently..so you probably have already been scanned and your details and alts are named in the data base that a private SL resident has charge of…. We all expose our I.P addresses for sure..but does google or Linden lab then give our alt names to whoever has money to buy them, and it ain’t much to buy….Azure explains it very well, why this issue should have all users in SL up in arms and demanding some protection from Linden Lab, in very simple terms that we can all understand plus she reveals that there are other devices on the grid that people are using to see where you are going, every minute of your time on SL….and nope you didn’t agree or ask for that.

We send our condolences and support to Tempest Ella who’s RL house and all her belongings have been lost and destroyed in the recent NewZealand Earthquake. Tempest was not even able to get word to us until late last week, that she lost her computer and absolutely everything, until she found somewhere to get online. We will be having her on the show with Anthony hopefully in the next while before the film comes out. I will update this blog with any information I get as to how to help her out. If anyone knows anything being arranged as a fund raiser for her please let me or Bliss Windlow in world. We will do what we can to help. Exclusive Interview this Sunday!

Huge Privacy Security Hole in all Second Life viewers Through Media Play Buttons, Your Alts and I.P addresses revealed.

This Sunday I’ll be interviewing Azure Twine who is the english speaking representative from the GreenZone Team who created a HUD detection device to warn wearers about the security device RedZone, called GreenZone.

The security device RedZone developed by Second Life resident zFire Xue has been in the news these last few weeks because awareness of its privacy violation concerns has reached a zenith, particularly in the S.L Jira started by SmoothKitty Beverly on the 7th Feb 2011 (with 1622 votes at time of press) and on various blogs and message boards like SLUniverse (329 pages at last count!). However concern about RedZone goes right back to middle of last year on the Jira.

RedZone is a security device which tracks and stores I.P addresses of Avatars it scans when you land at the parcel where it is rezzed, it also lists, for the owner of the device, all alts associated with your I.P address, IF when scanned you have a Second Life browser media button active at the time, it then has the ability to show its owner ALL the Alts associated with that I.P address, whether you are at Starbucks or at home…. There is also a RedZone HUD which can also scan people without their consent anywhere on the grid, and show up ALL their associated alts also. There has been an absolute furor on the Second Life Jira over this, that it reached the No 2 spot on the status list, with a huge amount of posts…(keep scrolling…keep scrolling….)

RedZone owner zFire Xue, and his supporters, according to his posts on the Jira and on his website’s forum, claim that unless you  have something to hide, why worry? Their supporters want security and keep in mind, RedZone is used by some extremely high profile residents, who feel that Linden Lab is NOT protecting them adequately from copybotting and greifing. The GreenZone group and other anti -RedZone detractors, don’t agree, claiming that they have an absolute right to privacy regardless. There are accusations of GreenZone HUD wearers and supporters being greifers, accusations of copybotting by Greenzone that led to the creation of the GreenZone HUD, and accusations of the RedZone HUD and the device being used to stalk and embarrass avatars being scanned by having their Alts outed. Sadly there are also stories of people being embarrassed into leaving Second Life completely, as a result of their alts being outed.

On Wednesday of this week, Soft Linden announced on the very looong….Second Life Jira that elements of the RedZone device that expose alternative accounts (Alts) were now deemed against the TOS, (Terms Of Service)  (which had been recently updated by Linden Lab, it seems, to clear up the issue of alts being shared publicly) Soft Linden announced that Linden Lab had forcibly removed the RedZone Vendor from the SL Market place, and asked, that residents report any violation of privacy in regards to the logging and sharing of alternative (Alt) Second Life accounts. RedZone vendors however are still selling RedZone on the grid, (I saw one myself) and RedZone is still being used on the grid, (as I also witnessed), apparently it has been altered so that Alts cannot be seen, but alts can still be banned. So is it banned or not?

The hole in privacy security caused by the Media players in all Second Life browsers from which the RedZone device and others like it can access your I.P has not been plugged, and until it is…the security risk is still there, with people refusing to use the media buttons in SL at all now, until they can be sure that there is no longer a risk. zFire Xue in a recent post threatened to go “underground” or expose the I.P’s ect…on the web.

There is talk about viewers adding media streaming url alerts, and just turning off your media players, but just I believe turning off your media player to avoid being scanned is really not a great solution (IF in fact that does protect you…) and here’s why… I’ve been watching this issue with great concern for a number of reasons…As a person who fully supports streaming media in S.L and has a long and busy history of playing live music in SL and providing entertainment through our show here at Tonight Live, I’m very much concerned that not only are we all at risk of having even perfectly legitimate Alts exposed, but I’m also concerned about what this is doing to live and taped (DJ) music venues, and venues such as Tonight Live where we have screens up with our shows streamed. I’m hearing stories of people just grabbing music stream urls rather than using their media buttons, or just not going to venues for fear of being scanned, this is very worrying to me…

This Sunday I hope to clear up a LOT of rumours and get it all straight, and I know Azure wants to do the  same. I’m keeping an eye on developments as they happen over this weekend, (the jira is still very active!) and will tailor the interview accordingly. I am also prepared to take questions from you in the audience and online during the broadcast on www.treet.tv/live to put to Azure. Also please put any questions you have for Azure in comments below and I will be sure to consider them.

Tonight Live With Paisley Beebe Is UP! Sun 20th Feb

This weeks show 20th Feb 2011 is now available on the WEB! and on iTunes Subscribe for FREE and get the show downloaded to iTunes automatically each Episode!

Another fantastic crowd showed up at Sailors Cove this Sunday to support our guests, Shaqq Korobase/Dr Anton Bogdanovych RL who explained how he had programed AI in Second Life to perform tasks that would have been done in 3000 BC Summeria to interact and teach university students. Shaqq also talked about how Motion Capture suits and software would be used in the future in Second Life and how Video Capture for Motion is still not able to replace Motion Capture suits,and why?

We also heard Shadez Rhapsody, a really fantastic Musician here in Second Life who uses his SL shows to create songs from jumbled phrases collected from the crowds, and interacts with his audience in a unique and entertaining way.

Finally we also met SecondLie Scribe Star  of Treet.tv and the “Grids Honest Truth” SecondLie was filling in for Rod Humble who couldn’t make this weeks show due to an previous engagement with Oprah……SecondLie and Paisley talk Lies’ Truth, and Other stupid interviews that Mr Humble has done with Second Lie giving his opinion on what Mr H should have said…

PS: All jokes aside Mr Humble is likely to appear on our show when he has had time to acclimatise himself more to Second Life, which I think is actually admirable as he could have just come on with a puppeteer….but that would NOT have done for our fearless Leader! Apparently he is not ready for any TV interviews just yet!
